Qualification	Participation is limited to teams of three or more people per boat. This tournament is planned to be an international competition open to foreign nationals. However, participants must meet certain conditions, such as being on a Japanese vessel registered as a recreational fishing boat and operated by a Japanese captain. Foreign nationals (excluding permanent residents, etc.) who wish to participate must contact the tournament secretariat in advance.

Strict rules for participating in the tournament

Regarding the common rules for marlin fishing (trolling) competitions in the waters off Ibaraki Prefecture.

*This document summarizes the common rules for marlin fishing (trolling) competitions in the waters off Ibaraki Prefecture, as outlined in the Ibaraki Prefecture Marine Fisheries Adjustment Regulations and the Ibaraki Sea Area Fisheries Adjustment Committee's instructions.

① Adherence to basic conditions for harvesting and capture

Approval of trolling	Trolling is permitted only for participants in events such as trolling tournaments approved by the Ibaraki Sea Area Fisheries Adjustment Committee. * Approval will be subject to various conditions imposed by the Fisheries Adjustment Committee.
sea ​​area	Trolling is permitted only in the area enclosed by the line at 36 degrees 00 minutes north latitude, the line drawn from the eastern end of Kinkasan in Miyagi Prefecture to 189 degrees, the line at 36 degrees 40 minutes north latitude, and the coastline (excluding territorial waters and internal waters). * The tournament area will be set separately within this range.
Period/time zone	Trolling is permitted only for three days, from Friday, August 28th to Sunday, August 30th, and only during the hours between sunrise and sunset.
Target fish species	Fish species that can be caught by trolling are limited to marlin. Release all other fish.
茨城県内 Port entry and departure	When participating in the tournament, please enter and depart from a marina or other facility within Ibaraki Prefecture (one of the conditions for holding the tournament is that your base of operations must be a marina or other facility within Ibaraki Prefecture).
Posting a sign flag	While participating in the tournament, please display the tournament marker flag in a visible location on your vessel. * The tournament organizers will distribute the tickets to participants once they receive approval from the Fisheries Adjustment Committee.

② Compliance with safety measures

Obligation to install AIS	Please install an AIS (Class B or higher) on your vessel and keep it running at all times while sailing during the event.
It hinders fishing. Prohibition of the act	Please do not do anything that will obstruct the operation or navigation of fishing vessels.
Maintaining distance from operating vessels	Please navigate at a distance of at least 3 miles from fishing boats and other operating vessels.
Other safety measures	Please drive slowly when entering and leaving the port, ensure that there are people on watch, and wear life-saving equipment.

③ Other compliance requirements

Elimination of anti-social forces	If the ship owner, captain, or passengers include any person specified in Article 2, paragraphs 1 to 3 of the Ibaraki Prefecture Ordinance on the Elimination of Organized Crime Groups (*), they will not be allowed to participate in the tournament. (*) Organized crime groups and their members (including those who have not yet passed five years since ceasing to be members of organized crime groups)
Report on fishing results	Please submit sailing records and fishing record reports for each sailing date to the tournament organizer immediately after fishing is completed. * For navigation records, please submit printed copies of output data from a course plotter or GPS plotter, or image data of the screen (to objectively determine whether you deviated from the competition area).

Regarding tournament rules other than the competition portion

Tournament schedule/tournament area	Please strictly adhere to the competition schedule and competition area.
Marine VHF transceivers and radar Installation	Please install a marine VHF transceiver and a valid radar on your vessel.
Take out insurance	Please take out insurance for each boat, including liability for personal injury and property damage.
Handling of caught marlin	Captured marlin cannot be bought or sold.
Handling of bluefin tuna	The target fish species for this tournament are only marlin. If you accidentally catch a bluefin tuna, regardless of its size, please release it into the sea immediately.
