General Event

　Ibaraki Prefecture is aiming to become an even more attractive and stylish resort by improving the tourism resources of the Hitachinaka-Oarai region, which has abundant tourism resources and is one of the prefecture's leading tourist destinations.Hitachinaka Oarai Resort Concept" was formulated in 2019.
　As part of the efforts of the "Hitachinaka Oarai Resort Concept", we will hold a comprehensive event in Oarai Town in 2022, centered on the International Marlin Fishing Tournament, which is open to foreigners for the first time in Japan.

　Starting in 2023, the name will be changed to "IBARAKI INTERNATIONAL FISHING FESTIVAL in Hitachinaka-Oarai Resort" and the venue will be expanded to include Hitachinaka City.

OARAI International Billfish Tournament

• Location: Off the coast of Ibaraki Prefecture, centered around Oarai Marina
• Date: October 2026th (Fri) to 8th (Sun), 28
• Overview: An international marlin fishing tournament open to foreigners (excluding permanent residents, etc.) from overseas, which will be held after deregulation due to amendments to related laws and regulations*.

Land-based events

• Location: Oarai Port District Pier 4, Nakaminato Fish Market
• Overview: Events for the general public will be held, centering on marlin dissection shows and weighing ceremonies.
